In martial arts the techniques that are taught are always in basic form at first prior to the full development of execution. This is way many people do not believe in the techniques that are portrayed in the action upon basic development. It is only after giving the attention to the technique and the possibilities on how to manipulate it into the specific action needed to carry out. This is when people become aware of the techniques effectiveness.

 

Law Enforcement is a category that dictates timing and action before, during and after in any situation. This is why adaptation is important.

 

The acronym PERP stands for Police Escorting and Restraint Procedures/Positioning of Execution and Response Procedures. The word PERP is also short for the word perpetrator, which this will help to remember such procedure. This is based off of the hands on implication for when a police officer is encountering a subject to escort or restrain.

 

PERP covers from distancing as well as weapon restraints to physical restraints.

 

  1. Police/Positioning: to know the following as well as the overall concept:
    • Levels of Force
    • Positioning and Placement (Weapon Placement front/back, Hand Placement)
    • Distancing: this is based on situational awareness. If you feel threaten you step back and blade your body to move to your next level.

  3. Restraint/Response: this is from gun point control to pain compliance when all fails and physical conflicts become hands on.
